John Carpenter, host of the library’s Classic Film Series, was acknowledged at the Library on June 6, 2014 by the New York Veteran Police Association. Mr. Richie Ornstein, 1st Vice President of the association, presented Mr. Carpenter with an Appreciation Award for his efforts in keeping the memory of classic films alive. Mr. Ornstein is also producer and ex co-host of Joe Franklin’s WOR radio show Memory Lane. He presented Mr. Carpenter a gift of appreciation from Mr. Franklin’s memorabilia collection for his work in promoting classic films to the Long Island community.
